got bioshock 2 special edition, was an extra £15 quid but have to say its well worth it. u get a vinyal recored, a cd, 3 posters and an artwork book. the book is great an its worth it just for the book and the box it comes in, the other stuff are just novelty but add to presentation, its somethen u will wanna keep anyway. but is the game any good?
its set 10 years after the 1st game and you play an older model of a big daddy, actualy suppose i shud say a bit for those of you tha havnt played bioshok 1.
the game is a fps and is set in an under water city called rapture which was built in the around 40s-50s. they were using this stuff which geneticy changed their bodies an gave some of them powers but every1 got addicted an turned into mindless zombie like creatures and their only goal is geting there next hit. lots of other stuff, scary bits and powers aswel as guns makes it a brillant game.
the 2nd instalment throws you in at the deep end and is much more action based than the 1st. the combat is better and the plasmids(powers u aquire such as shooting elctricity or fire) seem much more effective, using them tacticly and planing out battles by usng verious trap methods, weather its by setting a trip mine, a cyclone trap infused with fire or frost( a whirl pool tha hurls enemies upwards, dealing damage on the way down) haking a turret to shoot at enimies or using electric trap spears. the action is boss and challenging, the shriek of a big sister usualy sends u into a panic cheking you have enough ammo and health which is alot of the time scarce, especialy because a big sister comes after either a fight with a big daddie or having to defend ur little sister from waves of splicers leaving u depleted of health ammo, and eve(ur magic powers basicly).
story isnt as good as the origonal an is much more simple. the scary moments and tension arnt as frequent but are still here.
one of the things wrong here compared to the 1st is that the scale of the game seems to be toned down, graphics are brillant just like the 1st, but in the 1st sometimes u wud find urself staring out of a window at the submerged city, it looks that good!
moments like that are lost in this game.
but thats just nit piking, the gae is still fantastic and i found it hard to put it down, i was sure to do it on hard mode just to make sure it lasted longer, was a god length but i still wanted more, a true sign of a great game.
most reviews give it 9/10 i give it 9.5 an say its equaly as gud to the first bioshock, just lacks that bit of story, every review says that the end is dead good in this 1, i disagree, its mediocre but i dont care cause the game was boss.
and just a word on other reviews that giv it 8.5 or 9 outa 10, assasins creed gets 9/10 grand theft auto gets 10/10, both bio shocks are well better.
1 more thing to add, make sure u play this game right, turn the lights off play it at night and take your time, the game rewards searching, a locked room or dor will defo giv u a load of goodies or a weapon upgrade an often u will have anew enemy or sequence of events that might give u a scare, its not made to rush through mindlessly while ur eatin cheese strings and on the phone with the guy whos gona stuff ut pet hamster.
atmosphere is everythen in this game so dont spoil it for urself
